The true meaning

I loved Easter this year! As a family, we really wanted to celebrate the true meaning of Easter. We woke up to a rainy easter morning ( I love the rain), which I felt appropriate for easter...starting new...washed clean...helping the earth grow and blossom. We had a yummy pancake breakfast and then watched Finding Faith in Christ. Jace sat through the whole thing and was particuarly concerned when they took Jesus to the cross. He's watched it before but I wanted him to realize what Easter was all about. We did easter baskets, but nothing extravagant...mostly candy. (which by the way needs to leave my house bc all I'm doing is eating it) Church, was of course, spiritually rejuvinating and the lesson in RS was so powerful about being valiant in the cause of Christ. We came home to a yummy pot roast in the oven and the rest of the evening was just so nice spending time together.

The Hunt

We went to the Highlands Ranch Easter Egg Hunt for what Jace calls, "Rabbit Day" Good thing I had some of our coats in the car, because it was A LOT colder than we anticipated. In fact, Heath didn't wear a coat and he froze!!! His hands were like ice and the wind was blowing so hard. Not to mention, we had to hike a mile to get to the park. But, it was all worth it! There were SO many eggs. It was insane/ We had a great time and they were giving away free samples of the the BEST cake I've ever had.... nothingbundtcake. WOW! We went back for 2nds and 3rds. Jace wouldn't get near the easter bunny this year....who could blame him...he looked pretty scary to me this year. Aren't Easter Bunny's round and fluffy and friendly??? This one was emaciated and didn't look anywhere but straight ahead. Kinda creepy. :)

Just found this picture from last year.....what a difference! I can remember sweating like crazy that day.

First Day of Spring?

Wait, what's wrong with this picture? Just when we thought it was spring...we experience our first blizzard. Wednesday night, they issued a blizzard warning for late Thursday afternoon. So, at about Thursday 11:45, we decided to take the kids out to Walmart (Heath is on spring break) It was snowing when we left, but not too bad. After 45 min in Walmart, we started heading towards the exit. We couldn't see a thing out the door...just white. I'm learning now it's called a "white out." Within the short time we were in there, our car had already frozen over with ice, the temp. had dropped at least 20 degrees and the wind was blowing 40-50 mph. All I could think about was how in the world did our pioneer ancestors ever make it WALKING through this with wagons, children, pregnancies, etc. AMAZING. We got in the car but couldn't see 5 ft in front of our hood. It was all pretty exciting. The trip to Walmart usually takes about 7 minutes from our house. It took us 40 minutes to get home. I have never seen anything like this. The traffic has horrendous. Bumper to bumper for miles in front of us. We passed people stuck in the snow and we heard later about hundreds of accidents. When they said late afternoon, we imagined, 3 or 4 p.m....not 1

So, what have I learned? When there's a blizzard warning...don't leave the house, have a good set of tires and wind shield wipers, don't take your kids out if you do go out, have food and water in the house, always have a snow scraper in your car, wear a coat (Heath didn't), and just take it inches at a time.

We thankfully made it safely home. Jace loved every minute and Camden slept through it. So far, we've had 9 inches of snow and they say more to come.

Who's that cutie?

Camden is at such a fun age! Only a few weeks away from being 5 months old. I can't believe it. He's just so cute and funny right now. He blows bubbles all day, smiles all the time and I just love when he gives me that half little smirk. I love this stage where they really start interacting. We got a bumbo off Craigslist yesterday and he LOVES it. He started eating rice cereal a week ago and loves that too! I hope he gets to be chunky unlike my first, Jace. His sleeping is improving but still up a couple times at night. I can't seem to put him in jace's room yet in the crib. Mostly because I don't want Jace to wake up and bc I don't want to be tripping over myself to try and get Camden as soon as he starts crying. We'll get there. All in all, things seem a little brighter these days.
